The Committee for Public Counsel Services shall plan, oversee, and coordinate the delivery of criminal and certain noncriminal legal services by salaried pubilc counsel, bar advocate and other assigned counsel programs and private attorneys serving on a per case basis. As Amended Chapter 211D. Section 1. 1. Development of a new Committee Board?15 person Board. The appointment of current Board members will expire 90 days from the adoption of the GAA. The Governor, Senate and House must appoint their Board members within 90 days of the GAA (October 13th, 2011). a. 2 Governor appointees b. 2 House appointees c. 2 Senate appointees d. 9 Judiciary appointees i. 1 of whom must have experience as a Public Defender. ii. 1 of whom must have experience as Public Administration and Public Finance. iii. 1 of whom must be a current or former dean of faculty member of a law school. e. No board member is allowed to bill the Committee?i.e. act as a Public Defender or a Private Bar Advocate.Seat Restrictions
